Seminar Computational Biology and Bioinformatics

Alveolar macrophages are key players in lung health and disease and also accurate sensors of lung environment. In this talk, Dr. Alexander Misharin will demonstrate how high-content technologies, including bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, applied to alveolar macrophages from patients with lung diseases and combined with causal genetic experiments in mouse models of disease can unravel disease pathogenesis and guide therapy development. He will also provide a brief overview of the research programs in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Northwestern University, Chicago, and outline opportunities for collaboration.
