Maria Skłodowska-Curie lecture
We cordially invite you to a distinguished Maria Skłodowska-Curie lecture by Ian Walmsley from Imperial College London:
Lighting the Quantum Future: Photonics in Quantum Information Technology
This Thursday at 12:30 pm, Room 2180.

Abstract: Light plays a central role in quantum information science and technologies, deriving from its capacity to exhibit quantum features even in ambient conditions, as well as its large capacity for information acquisition and transmission. Indeed, it can itself be used as a medium directly as a platform for simulation (and indeed computation) as well as in precision sensors. I will discuss some recent work in applications of photonic platforms in these areas.
Professor Ian Walmsley CBE FRS is a leading physicist specialising in quantum optics and quantum technologies. He serves as the Provost of Imperial College London and Chair of Experimental Physics, contributing significantly to research in science, engineering, and medicine. He is also the co-founder of ORCA Computing and a Fellow of the Royal Society, American Physical Society, Institute of Physics, and Optica, where he served as President in 2018.
Fell warmly invited
