Alpha oscillations (8-12 Hz) accompany the awake resting state. However, many experiments suggest the functional relevance of alpha oscillations to a wide range of cognitive processes including attention, working memory, decision-making, and visual consciousness. During the seminar, I will discuss the mechanistic theory that explains these phenomena and provides the missing link between the previous theories of the role of alpha oscillations in the brain. Our theory is a joint work with Prof. Andrzej Wróbel.
