In the past decades, semilinear Schrödinger equations with L² constraints have attracted many scholars' attention. They have been mostly investigated via variational methods, which involve different approaches depending on whether the energy is bounded below or not; in particular, additional (global) assumptions about the nonlinear term are required in the latter scenario. In 2024, however, Louis Jeanjean, Jian-Jun Zhang, and Xue-Xiu Zhong published an article in which the two cases are tackled with a unique global-branch approach.
In my talk, I will demonstrate how, in the one-dimensional case, the global-branch approach can be applied to investigate possibly non-variational equations where the constraint, the term multiplying the global-branch parameter, and the rest of the nonlinearity are more general.
