PhD position in Randomized and Geometric Algorithms for Data processing
We offer a research scholarship for a PhD student in the Opus research project High-Dimensional Data Processing using Sample Compression and Dimensionality Reduction, financed by the National Science Centre (2023/51/B/ST6/02989).
A scholarship of PLN 5,000/month for the period October 2025 - June 2028.

PhD open "Foundations of Graph Neural Networks"
The upcoming PhD Open minicourse will be held on May 21-23.
Egor Kostylev from the University of Oslo will talk about GNNs - Graph Neural Networks a family of neural architectures that are naturally suited to learning functions on graphs.

May 19th is a Rector's day
On Monday, May 19, a farewell ceremony will be held for Ms. Małgorzata Dynak, who tragically passed away on May 7 on the Main Campus of the University of Warsaw. The funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Divine Providence, located at Dickensa 5. Further ceremonies at the cemetery will be private and limited to the family. By the decision of the Rector, there will be no classes or work duties at the University of Warsaw on Monday
The Faculty building will remain open on that day to students, doctoral candidates, and staff.

Rectangle-peg problem
Our Faculty hosts Dr. Lei Chen from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, this year's winner of the Kamil Duszenko Prize.
She will deliver a special lecture this Thursday at 12:15 in room 4420: The rectangle peg problem, which, according to the rules of the prize, is addressed to high school students at an "olimpic level". It will certainly be interesting and accessible for our students.

- research experience in any of the following areas will be an advantage: Borel complexity of classification problems in topological dynamics and ergodic theory, Borel complexity of sets of generic points in topological dynamical systems, minimal symbolic dynamical systems
- fluency in English, both spoken and written.

- background in geometric analysis and measure theory (e.g. embedded and abstract manifolds, exterior algebra, differential forms, Radon measures, covering theorems, weak convergence of measures, Riesz representation theorem etc.)
- fluent written and spoken English
- ability to write in LaTeX
- ability to search scientific literature and read scientific papers
- motivation to work on abstract problems with no connection to real life applications
- diligence, accuracy, and perseverance
- good manners and personal culture
