The lecture, entitled "A half century of p-adic geometry", will take place at a special meeting of the Warsaw Branch of the Polish Mathematical Society, on Thursday, 12 June 2025, 16:30, room no. 2180 at MIM, Banacha 2.

Abstract:
p-adic geometry started at the end of 1960s with the work of John Tate on rigid analytic varieties. It progressed slowly until 20 years ago or so when new p-adic geometries were developed and there was an avalanche of applications in Arithmetic Geometry. I will  discuss the history of the subject and describe some of my contributions.
