• Structures which represent generic (abstract) objects:

• • inode – represents inode on disk
  • dentry – represents directory entry
  • file – represents open file
  • super_block – represents filesystem instance
  • file_system_type – represents filesystem type handling

• Can contain filesystem-specific extra information
