Toledo: cathedral — world in itself

It started raining. Heavily. Water, even waterfalls were pouring out from gargoyles of the cathedral.

Especially in such weather the huge gothic cathedral seems to be a separate world itself. Closed and surrounded by water, separated from the exterior by thick walls. Huge and full of nooks, with light falling at different angles. Spanish style includes dividing the space into smaller parts: the main altair behind tall bars, the choir also completely separated, and makes the impression that the world of cathedral is divided into smaller continents. You can find both emptiness and crowded spaces, both darkness and light. And then with surprise you encounter baroque skylight. And big sacristy with works of El greco, Titian and Van Dyck. You can even walk outside into a vast cloister without leaving this gothic world.
