Bern: Old Town: S part — views over the market

The Saturday market engulfed the streets of the Old Town. In front of the parliament stalls were bent under the not cheap but wonderful fruits, and at Münstergasse it smelled of ham and cheese (from the latter as always not pleasantly though).

These fairs, as well as the sea of the red roofs of the Old Town in the bend of the Aarne River, are best seen from the 100-meter, the highest in Switzerland, tower of the cathedral. Above its portico, the Last Judgment with painted figurines characteristic of the local style and gracefully composing, despite the subject, with the gaudy atmosphere prevailing in the city.
