Gottfried Barthel, Ludger Kaup: Homology of toric varieties

According to the famous theorem of Jurkiewicz and Danilov, the Betti
numbers of a compact Q-smooth toric variety and the numbers of faces of
the describing (simplicial) fan determine each other. This relation is
best understood, even in the non-compact case, in terms of
(torus-)equivariant cohomology of the variety. We report on such
"equivariantly formal" toric varieties given by simplicial fans. A more
general situation will be discussed in the talk of Karl-Heinz Fieseler.
