The conference will take place in SISSA, Trieste, Italy from the 23rd to the 27th of June, 2014.

Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport

The closest airport (~38 km) is Aeroporto Friuli Venezia Giulia - Ronchi dei Legionari (TRS). From here, you have three ways to get to Trieste:

Public transport: The timetable of APT Gorizia Coach Service 51 is available at the Airport website, the one way ticket costs 4 €. Tickets can be purchased at the city coach stations (Mondays to Fridays) or directly at the airport, either from the 24-hour automatic ticket machine (arrivals hall of the passenger terminal) or at the tourist information counter - Infopoint Turismo FVG (arrivals hall of the passenger terminal).

Taxi: Taxis are available outside the arrival terminal daily, between 08.00 and 24.00. The costs of the ride to Trieste is around 50 € (per Taxi).

Shuttle service: There is a shared shuttle service, with the possibility to specify the drop off point. Booking is needed at least 2 days in advance. It costs 18,70 € per person, but groups are eligible for discount. If you plan to use this service and you would like to share it with other participants, contact the local organizers .

Other airports

By train

The main station in Trieste is Stazione Centrale. Trains timetables can be found in the Trenitalia website.

The accommodation of the juniors participants will be in the following hotels: To get to your hotel (e.g. from the Train Station) you can walk or take a bus (or a taxi). For bus timetables, check the website (italian version only). Itineraries from point to point can be computed here.

How to get to SISSA

The SISSA campus is located near Opicina (Trieste), here. Important update: for the whole week there will be a special bus (only for GAeL participants) leaving at 8.45 from Piazza Oberdan (corner via Galatti). We kindly ask you to take that bus instead of the ordinary bus 38, as there will not be enough room for everybody on the ordinary one. Please note that the walk from Residence del Mare to the bus stop takes around 15 minutes. Here is the map with the best route you can take. If you want to take another bus instead, you can check at (Italian version only) for timetables and further information or compute direcly an itinerary here. Otherwise, SISSA can be reached by means of ordinary bus 38, whose endpoint is SISSA itself; it departs from via Galatti, close to Piazza Oberdan. Otherwise, buses 2 and 4, departing from Piazza Oberdan, could work as well, but you would need to get out at the "Obelisco", approximatively here and walk downhill for 750 meters ca. Important: buses 38 leave every 20 minutes and it is likely to find them quite crowdy, so be in advance or have a plan B. Both special buses and ordinary ones require tickets. Be aware of the fact that it is not possible to buy a ticket on board. Tickets can be bought in every "edicola" (italian translation for newsstand) or "tabaccheria" (tobacconist, they have a big T outside the shop) and have to be obliterated on board; for instance, in the train station there are two places where you can buy them. The plain ticket lasts 60 minutes and costs 1,30 €, but there exists a special multi-ticket which costs 11,70 € and is valid for ten trips. The latter is not personal, so you can share one with more persons. Once you are outside SISSA, there are two entrances. The main one faces the sea and is not the nearest, but it is always open. Otherwise, you could enter from the back-door (2nd floor), but that one can be opened only with a badge, so you have to follow someone who has it. However, the conference will be held in the Aula Magna, which is very close but outside the main building. There will be signs on the way.
