Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw has existed since 1969. It was created as a result of the splitting of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. Our Faculty is a continuator of the Warsaw School of Mathematics, that is one of the three strong groups of mathematicians operating in Poland in the interwar years. The leading representatives were, among others Karol Borsuk, Samuel Eilenberg, Zygmunt Janiszewski, Kazimierz Kuratowski, Stanisław Leśniewski, Stefan Mazurkiewicz, Andrzej Mostowski, Wacław Sierpiński, Alfred Tarski.
Today, the Faculty offers education of the highest quality and world-class research. By expert institutions evaluating the quality of education at Polish universities, our Faculty has the best opinions: category A+ (the best rating on the scale, by the assessment of the Polish Accreditation Commission).
Every year, our students win laurels in international mathematics (like International Mathematics Competition for University Students) and IT competitions (e.g. International Collegiate Programming Contest). More about our students success can be found here (in polish). Our graduates are owners of thriving companies and valued employees of Polish and international corporations.
