Ph.D. position in Geometric Measure Theory financed from NCN grant


One Ph. D. postiion in the project "Elliptic geometric variational problems" financed from NCN grant Sonata Bis no. 2022/46/E/ST1/00328 is offered. The project will be supervised by Sławomir Kolasiński.

Requirements:

  • MSc in mathematics
  • fluent written and spoken English
  • ability to write in LaTeX
  • good understanding of measure theory (Radon measures, covering theorems, differentiation of measures, Riesz-type representation theorems etc.) and basic differential geometry (embedded manifold, tangent bundle, differential form etc.)
  • acquaintance with the most elementary algebraic topology
  • ability to search scientific literature and read scientific papers

The candidate will only be recruited if he/she is admitted to a Doctoral School located in Poland, e.g., this one.

Tasks:

  • participation in the research project entitled "Elliptic geometric variational problems" no. 2022/46/E/ST1/00328
  • performing research on the notion of ellipticity and on consequences of ellipticity
  • writing research papers
  • presentation of results at conferences and seminars

Deadline for applications: 2023-06-03 23:59

PhD scholarship: 5000 PLN gross for 36 months on top of the scholarship offered by the Doctoral School
