"Some problems and new results in Minkowski geometry"

Horst Martini (TU Chemnitz, Germany)

In this talk we will present several results obtained, and topics
studied, by the geometry research group in Chemnitz. These mainly
refer to the geometry of finite dimensional real Banach spaces (= Minkowski
geometry). More precisely, we present questions from classical
convexity, discrete geometry and also elementary geometry that yield
interesting research problems in Minkowski spaces.

Concretely discussed subjects are packings and coverings, characterizations
of special norm classes, special types of convex bodies in Minkowski spaces
(constant width etc.), basic incidence theorems (extended to arbitrary norms),
and related things.
