Zakład Logiki Matematycznej zaprasza na seminarium zakładowe w piątek,
13.03.2005, godz. 14:15 (MIM UW, sala 5820, ul. Banacha 2, Warszawa).
Planowane są wystąpienia:

"A FCA-Perspective on Rough Sets" (Part I)

Professor Bernhard Ganter
Institute for Algebra at Dresden University of Technology, Germany

Bernhard Ganter received his PhD in 1974 from the University of Darmstadt,   Germany. He became a Professor of mathematics in 1978, and a Full Professor at Dresden Technical University in 1993. Presently he is the head of the Algebra Institute in the Math department.

Originally, his research interests were in discrete mathematics and in universal algebra. Around 1980, he was a member of a research group that invented a new research area, called Formal Concept Analysis. This field has since then turned out to be useful for the formal treatment of data and knowledge. Currently, this research is broadened to a field called Contextual Logic.

"A FCA-Perspective on Rough Sets" (Part II)

Christian Meschke (PhD student)
Institute for Algebra at Dresden University of Technology, Germany

Abstract:
We show how certain lattices occurring in the theory of Rough Sets can be described in the language of Formal Concept Analysis. These lattices are obtained from generalised approximation operators forming a kernel-closure pair. We prove a general context representation theorem and derive first consequences. It becomes clear under which conditions the approximations can be interpreted as intervals in a lattice of "definable sets". In the second part of our talk we propose a further generalisation. Instead of kernel-closure pairs on powerset lattices we describe the situation of such pairs on arbitrary complete lattices.
