Abstract:
In this talk I briefly describe the motivation for and general theory
of
o-minimality on the real field as originally expounded by van den Dries.
Most of my talk, however, will be devoted to a presentation of recent
results concerning the construction of o-minimal expansions of the
real
field. In particular,I shall explain why there is no largest such
expansion, and why definable functions in such expansions may be nowhere
analytic.
